The first question: does a thinking thing think better if its capacity to think has been "enhanced" by taking certain pharmaceuticals? The authors of this article are claiming drug enhanced mental performance has the potential to allow us to live better and more productive lives. There are drawbacks, of course, as many of us can't be trusted to not use the drugs for recreational purposes but if we are otherwise healthy and psychologically stable then what's the problem? The line between the two positions blurs easily.
